UNICEF Infant Feeding room facility
The University of Northampton has achieved UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative Gold Accreditation, having gained full Baby Friendly Accreditation in 2016 and Gold Accreditation in 2022. Students develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to support birthing people, babies and families with infant feeding and relationship building in accordance with the UNICEF UK Baby Friendly standards, which are embedded throughout the midwifery course.
Our Baby Friendly Student Champions work alongside the Baby Friendly Initiative Lead to promote Baby Friendly principles and contribute innovative ideas that support positive change within the midwifery course.
Within the Learning Hub at Waterside Campus, there is a dedicated infant feeding room available to students, staff and members of the public, providing a safe, private and comfortable space for infant feeding, expressing milk and newborn care
