How ideas about femininity are circulating on social media today?
This webinar offers a glimpse into a fascinating area of interest within modern finance by exploring how machine learning models and data analytics are increasingly shaping financial decision-making today, particularly through the use of large-scale digital and behavioural data.
Led by staff from the Accounting and Finance team at the University of Northampton, this session introduces and explores key ideas from financial economics, data analytics, and financial technology studies. Giving attendees a ‘taster’ of one of the many evolving areas within finance, we use these ideas to examine how machine learning is applied across financial services, including credit scoring, fraud detection, algorithmic trading, personalised financial products, and risk management.
Drawing on real-world examples from banking, FinTech platforms, and digital marketplaces, the session highlights how data-driven systems influence consumer behaviour, market efficiency, and financial inclusion, while also raising important questions around ethics, bias, transparency, and regulation.
We look forward to you joining us for a thought-provoking but beginner-friendly discussion on what machine learning and data analytics reveal about the present and future of modern finance.
