Cheryl studied for her degree in Primary Education at the University of Northampton and was awarded a BA (Hons) with Qualified Teacher Status. She went on to teach in a range of primary schools across Northamptonshire for 25 years. During her time in primary schools, Cheryl took on many senior roles including deputy headteacher and headteacher and gained her National Professional Qualification in Headship in 2008. Cheryl oversaw the development of a Children’s Centre with nursery and Pre School setting. Cheryl has had many roles including curriculum leadership in science, history, geography, reading and as an Initial Teacher Training school-based mentor. Cheryl has worked as an Associate Lecturer at UON since 2023 whilst working in a mixed aged primary setting and working as a supply teacher across Northamptonshire. During this time, Cheryl taught on the science modules for the BA in Primary Education and worked as a moderation tutor supporting trainees on their school-based placements. Cheryl became a substantive member of the Initial Teacher Training team at UON as a Senior Lecturer in Education in March 2025.
