Creative Hub
Creative Film and Television
Location: Creative Hub 1st floor, CH119
Visit our television studio and have a go with the green screen and experience what it is like to be in the gallery of a real studio! Be inspired to be the next producers, floor managers, sound specialist and television presenters of the future.
eSports
Location: Creative Hub 1st floor
Have a go in one of our eSports racing rigs! If any of your students are interested in esports, Gaming and Games Art, have a go in our Gaming rigs and chat to staff and students about careers in the industry.
Exploring Engineering
Location: Creative Hub ground floor, CH008
Visit one of the university Engineering Labs. Use equipment and explore smart materials practice and applications – with polymorph thermoplastic, smart putty, memory spring and memory wire. Speak to staff and students about the many courses and jobs in engineering and have a go at using some of our equipment!
Fashion, Textiles, Footwear & Accessories Design with UON
Location: Creative Hub 2nd floor, CH201
Meet our Fashion students, see their work and be inspired by the fabrics they use, learn about the processes in Fashion design and speak to students about what is involved in being a Fashion, Footwear and Accessories designer.
Journalism
Location: Creative Hub CH111
Work with students and staff from the Multimedia Sports Journalism specialism to understand more about careers in Sports Journalism. Visit the studio area, listen to students work and have a go with the equipment in the UON TV and production studio.
Mirror Mirror Photobooth
Location: Creative Hub
Grab your besties, find some props and take a photo in our STEAM Northants photo booth! Have a lasting memory of the day while having a little bit of fun.
Learning Hub
Bubbly Maths
Location: Learning Hub Exhibition
Get involved in building a giant 7m x 7m tetrahedron made of balloons! Building will take place 10am – 1pm, with smaller scale ‘have a go’ activities on offer all day. Find out more about Bubbly Maths.
Music
Location: Learning Hub LH120
Visitors will be making music with vegetables in this unique drop in activity. Young people will have the chance to explore electronic music through the use of Playtronica devices – playing music on a range of conductive materials and natural objects.
Psychology and Neuroscience
Location: Learning Hub LH122
Learning all about your brain, how we think and have a go at some of our live experiments.
Wildlife Displays
Location: Learning Hub, LH124
A hands on animal encounter with a variety of exotic animals, including snakes, lizards, meerkats, spiders and pygmy hedgehogs. Each group will have 20 mins to handle, view and ask questions about all of these animals – and more!

TeePee
Forest Schools
Location: Teepee (near the Engine Shed)
Visit our Forest Schools teepee and have a go at crafting and learning with the outdoors.
Experience Zone
Immersive Experiences
Location: Experiences Zone
Not pre-booked a planetarium? Try your luck with our drop in Astronaut themed Dome on the day. There will be a queuing system and time slots allocated first come first served.
While you’re there, have a go at augmented and virtual reality headsets!
LemonPop
Location: Experiences Zone
Marvin will be here with bookable creative workshops this year. Book on and create your own zine to take away, reflecting on your own experiences with all things STEAM. Find out more about LemonPop.
Molly Mae Hot Air Balloon
Location: Experiences Zone (Electric Green)
Sit in the ballooning basket, learn about the materials involved in ballooning, have more of an insight into how a balloon works and feel the heat of the burner. This drop in activity will be interesting and a great addition to the day. Note: Balloon inflation is weather dependent.
Drop in slots will run every 20 mins starting at 10am, for groups of up to 20 at a time. There will be a queuing system.
Nene Rivers Trust
Location: Experiences Zone
Have a go in the interactive River van, Roxanne. Try your hand in the SandLab, make a river with the beautiful recreation of a full river eco system or try using a microscope to see the tiny creatures that live mostly hidden in water . . . Find out more about Nene Rivers Trust.
