Living in Halls on campus

For the three years I will be at the university (from 2023-2026), I decided to live in an ensuite room on campus; there were many reasons why I chose this option, but the main ones were comfort and ease.

Why live on campus?

I chose to live on campus because I can move around easily; I have an onsite base for after lectures, and also for easy access of buildings on site. Being on campus allows me to be at ease due to fatigue, being able to just walk to the Creative Hub from my accommodation for me is much better than coming from Scholar’s Green or St John’s, which are further away.

Why choose an ensuite room?

I chose an ensuite room mainly so I could have my own bathroom, but also so I could be happy as I had my own space and privacy. I could keep my distance when I wanted. Whilst I would also prefer to have my own kitchen, I am able to keep food in the lockable kitchen cupboards provided.

I think having a space that is mine makes me feel comfortable and that’s why I chose an ensuite room.

I have been able to choose accommodation based on my preferences, meaning I can live on campus on the ground floor; also living on campus eliminates how much walking I need to do which limits fatigue.

Living on campus means that I can access the library easily, I can walk to the Engine Shed or go to Waterside restaurant in the middle of the day. I’m also able to participate in any events that are happening on campus.

Overall, I chose an ensuite room on campus was for a whole variety of reasons, but the main reasons were having a space to myself and being able to commute to my lectures easily (I don’t currently have a driver’s license so driving into Northampton isn’t an option for me at this point).
