My journey to university has not been straightforward; I started during Covid at a different university on a totally different course. Unfortunately, during this first year, I lost movement in my legs which stopped me continuing this course. Despite this, I was determined that this was not the end of my educational journey. Talking to University of Northampton and the course lead for Biochemistry, I was able to restart my undergraduate learning, and in 2025 I completed my degree. UON have been such an amazing university supporting me in my education personally, professionally and academically.
Due to all of this, when I was discussing my future and my supervisor brought up the idea of staying on to do a PhD with her on my undergraduate dissertation research, it was a no brainer to stay.
You will often find me around university joined by my assistance dog Lyra; if we are not working on my research, you will find both of us playing and training by the Riverside Hub for a dog sport called competitive obedience which we compete in most weekends.
