Making money go further

Starting university is exciting but can also bring financial challenges. From textbooks, to rent, to buying a laptop, the costs can be overwhelming. The University of Northampton, however, takes a proactive approach to student support by reducing financial pressures in several areas. Here’s how it makes student life more affordable:

Free Laptop for First-Year Students

Technology is an essential part of university success. To support students, the University of Northampton offers first-year full-time UK students the option of a free laptop upon enrolment. This initiative removes the significant expense of purchasing a laptop and ensures that students have the tools they need for their course

Free Societies and Sports Club Memberships

Societies and sports clubs are the focus of university life, offering opportunities to explore interests, build networks and make friends. Unlike many universities that charge fees to join societies or sports clubs, UON provides memberships free of charge. This inclusive policy ensures every student can partake in extracurriculars without worrying about additional costs.

Subsidised Printing Costs

Printing assignments and study materials can quickly add up. These costs are completely covered, removing an often-overlooked expense for certain students and providing practical support for these students’ needs.

Free Access To Textbooks

Textbooks can cost hundreds of pounds per semester. Still, the University has eliminated this expense by giving students free access to the library within the Learning Hub and a wide range of digital textbooks and resources through the university’s online library system. This ensures that students have the materials they need to succeed without breaking the bank.

Universities Commitment to Students

With free societies, laptops and textbooks, along with affordable printing and optional living opportunities, the university creates an accessible and supportive environment.

This allows students to focus more on their education and personal growth, than worrying about their financial stress.

For students seeking an affordable and inclusive university experience, the University of Northampton stands out for prioritising student wellbeing and finance.
