The University of Northampton is governed by two sets of committee structures which ensure that that academic quality and standards are upheld. The Board of Governors and its committees oversees the governance of the University, whilst Senate and its committees oversees the academic quality operations of the University which affect the student experience. The procedures and principles that these committees operate under can be found in the Committee Handbook.

Minutes and papers for Senate committees (unless identified as confidential to the committee in question) can be obtained upon request from validations@northampton.ac.uk.

The University will be operating the following Senate committees in 2026/27.

For most of them, their Terms of Reference can be accessed as annexes of the Committee Handbook, which is currently being updated for 2026/27.
