This page provides information to support any claims made in the University’s TEF submission around Continuation and Completion.

Most claims that are made can be verified directly using information in the public domain.  This page provides the details of claims that rely on individualised data that is not generally available.

Abbreviations used on this page include:

  • GEM = Global Ethnic Majority (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic)
  • POLAR = Participation Of Local AReas – the POLAR4 area-based measures of young participation in Higher Education

  • On Page 17, Section 3.2 we make the claim:

With respect to what appears to be a very poor completion rate for OUG PT, a large proportion of this can be traced to an historic data error affecting Education and Teaching. The data includes 272 students who successfully completed their awards but this was not reflected in the 2013/14 HESA return.

We have matched records from the Data source file IND_SEP2022_10007138_Supplementary_registering_10007138 (using HUSID and COURSEID) to our internal records system to identify students’ module and programme outcomes.

For COURSEID – CCERCHESL – completed awards were returned in error as C90 or I90, rather than C20.  This affected 82 records in the 2011 base year, 84 records in 2012 base year and 55 records in the 2013 base year.

For COURSEID – EYS3129 – in the 2012 base year completed awards were returned in error as I90 affecting 20 records. In the 2013 base year no outcome returned for this course affecting 41 records.

Combined this affects 282 students in total, there was a typo in our submission.

    Please email for further information.
