Open Day Experience – Study with us at UON

Your University experience is important to us.

Whilst you queue to view the show flat, we have highlighted key information to help you feel supported and make adjusting to university life as easy as possible.

Accommodation

Students have a range of accommodation types to choose from here at UON. With our Waterside Halls based on campus, St John Halls located in the town centre, and Scholars Green Student Village 15 – 20 minutes drive away, there’s something for everyone.

Travel and parking

Bus and Train services

  • Our subsidized bus service with Stagecoach runs on key routes around the town.
  • We are about a 15 minute walk away from Northampton train station

Waterside campus, Development Hub, and Scholars Green student parking

  • Parking permits are required to park at each site and must be applied for termly
  • Sixfields Park and Ride is free to park with a dedicated student daily return fare. Open Monday – Friday
  • Waterside Car Park 1 is open to all students in the evenings and weekends (pay when you arrive at the machine/RingGo app)
  • Students with a Blue Badge can park at the University but must apply for a parking permit
  • Scholars Green Student Village residents get an Uno bus pass to Waterside campus included

Students are taught in small groups and through close interaction between staff and peers.

Employability

If you complete your HND or achieve a 2:2 degree or above and complete one of our flagship Changemaker or Employability Awards during your time studying with us, but still haven’t found full-time employment 12 months after graduating, we will secure a three to six month paid internship for you or support you into postgraduate study.

Student support

Personal Tutor

At the start of the year you will be allocated a personal tutor who will provide you with academic and personal support.

Mental health and counselling

Our professionally trained Mental Health Advisers and Counsellors provide students with free confidential support.

Financial Guidance

The Financial Guidance team are available to help if you have any questions about the type of funding available to you, having difficulty managing your money, or have any financial concerns.
