Student Spotlight: Remi

Date 22 May 2026

Introducing Remi, currently in the spotlight as one of our Northampton students. We’re proud to highlight her experiences and accomplishments.

Reman Preet Kaur Saini

Sat Sri Akal, everyone! (Greetings in Punjabi).

My name is Reman Preet Kaur Saini, and I’m one of the Student Icons here at UON. I am currently in my second year pursuing an MSc in Physiotherapy (Pre-registration). My journey from India to the UK as an international student has been a complete rollercoaster ride. There have been ups and downs, but it was honestly the best decision I ever made! Thanks to the numerous support services at UON, I’ve been able to pursue my passion for study and complete clinical placements in the UK healthcare setting.

I pride myself on being patient, calm, and kind, because having that “main character energy” in healthcare means making sure your patients feel 10/10. My time at UON hasn’t just been about books, it’s been a total glow-up for my career. I’ve picked up so many employability skills that you need in the real world. Learning how to stay calm under pressure and discovering the right leadership style has been a total gamechanger. I’ve also learned how to be accountable for my decisions because, in Physiotherapy, what you do really impacts the people around you.

Being Punjabi gives me a unique cross-cultural perspective, which is a total flex when it comes to understanding diversity and making sure everyone feels seen. When I need a break from studying, I turn up my favourite Punjabi and Bollywood songs and start vibing, it’s the best way to keep my energy high and stay happy! I also love cooking, it’s my favourite way to unwind and it always reminds me of home.

A saviour tip from me, if you ever feel lost or have a random question, there is one place that is a total lifesaver- SID (Student Information Desk) in the Learning Hub. The university has such a wide range of support for every student, so you never have to struggle on your own. From financial advice to mental health or employability support, UON really looks out for you. My best advice? Don’t gatekeep your problems, just walk into the Learning Hub and ask. It makes the whole uni experience 10/10!!
