University Mental Health Day is back for 2026!
University Mental Health Day (UMHD) takes places nationally within Higher Education communities to raise awareness of mental health, encourage open conversations and promote wellbeing. The theme this year is Human Connection
We have 40 services attending and activities running throughout the day:
- Ark Farm’s petting zoo available between 11am – 2pm, where you can encounter ducks, guinea pigs, sugar gliders, Plop the Owl and Pickles the hedgehog
- Visit our free ‘Take a Break Café’ kindly funded by the University Leadership Team, and staffed by our Integrated Helpdesk Team and Chaplain Stuart.
- Need some rest and relaxation? Experience Virtual Reality Relaxation and use the massage chair facilitated by our Mental Health Nursing students.
- Healthy eating and physical activity is promoted by using the smoothie bike!
- Visit and take part in the Games Table, with a variety of board games and activities, supported by ManSpace.
- The opportunity to win a Wellbeing Hamper with the Student Union “Break the Stigma Campaign
- Enjoy the opportunity to meet the very loveable Pets As Therapy (PAT) dogs
- Explore ‘What is a healthy relationship’ with our counsellors and DASSH team
- Get creative with our mental health team, it’s a great way to ground, connect and take a break from worries
- Juggling with the Student Support and Advice Team – how much are you juggling in your life?
- Win a hamper by visiting the Student Union stand and letting us know what you think about the event
- Win Freebies by using the SU Spinney wheel, goodies include fidget highlighters, dark chocolate and pens
- Waffle,Waffle at The Engine Shed between 9.30 – 11.30 A drop in and chat with the SU Welfare Officer.
Our Students Union are also offering additional activities across the week:
- Slice & Dice 9th March 11 – 2 pm enjoy relaxed board/card games with your community at The Engine Shed
- De-stress dance 17th Tuesday 1pm- 3pm will be taking place at The Engine Shed.
