Uni as an introvert
University is often described as dynamic and chaotic. Every day seems to be filled with lectures, meeting new faces and endless parties. However, the real truth is that you don’t need to change who you are to fit in and be thrive. All you need is some tips to help you navigate your university life in an “introverted” way.
Finding the right friends are better than a huge circle
There are a lot of societies and sport clubs at UON where introverts tend to meet friends with the same hobby such as the Debate Club, Badminton Sport Club and KPop society. Moreover, you can join some supporting classes that you enjoy or engage in volunteering teams for more real connection.
Use email if asking your questions in front of the class is hard
You can always prepare the questions and send the email in advance to your lecturers. Sometimes, you can even book one to ones with academic tutors and lecturers – they are really supportive and always listen.
Find your own place
There are a myriad of spaces in UON that appreciate quietness such as the library and the silent study on the 4th floor of Learning Hub. These can become your peaceful corners when too much interaction drains your energy
Remember “ You are allowed to enjoy your solitude”
You are not in any race, so remember that you don’t have to pretend to be energetic when you are not. You can take your time to slowly experience new things in University. So always take a break if you need and enjoy some fresh air outside to recharge your battery.
