Why I chose St Johns Halls

When applying for accommodation it was important for me to find a halls of residence that I felt safe and secure in.

St Johns Halls of Residence is located close to the town centre and is a short 10-minute walk to campus.

For me it was important to maintain the same routine I had at home. I needed to allocate myself the time to get ready and then walk to campus, as I know that living on campus wouldn’t give me the separation that I needed. I needed an environment where I could go to university, study and be able to leave that there when I went home. Therefore, living just a little off campus was vital in selecting my accommodation, hence making St Johns the perfect choice!

Safety and Security

To get into St Johns Halls, you have to have your ID card or be signed in, if a guest, with turnstiles and a button operated door at the front. You can only get through the turnstiles if you have a programmed key card, and only the security on shift can open the door. This provides maximum security.

This aspect of St Johns gave not only myself, but my parents peace of mind when moving me to University.

As someone that was anxious before moving, it was comforting that nobody could get into the courtyard, let alone our buildings. The added security was definitely a key factor in making my decision.

There is 24-hour security across Waterside campus and all of the UON accommodation, giving you reassurance that you are safe and secure when you are on campus and in student halls.

Central Location

St Johns Halls is not only a 10-minute walk to campus, but also a close walk to some of Northampton’s great features. The Shoe Museum and art Gallery is a short 2-minute walk away, The Royal & Derngate theatre is a 1 minute walk away as well as the Grosvenor Shopping Centre being a 7-minute walk.

Many clubs are also under 10-minute walk from the accommodation. The location makes it perfect for any activity that you want to do, whether that is clubbing at night or simply visiting the theatre for a show. Convenience is always key and living in St Johns Halls of Residence is the most convenient location.
