Overview
This Level 7, 20 credit module explores the significant role that health and wellbeing plays in educational settings in both local and global contexts. It empowers students to develop strategies for promoting a holistic approach to health and wellbeing in learning communities, both for themselves and others. This module offers a unique flexibility in learning as students can choose to attend face-to-face learning at our Waterside Campus, or join online to fit around busy lifestyles. This module can be taken as standalone or as part of the Education MA.

Entry Requirements
To study this Level 7 module, you will need an honours degree, usually at 2:2 or above, from a UK institution or equivalent.
If you have other qualifications and recent professional experience of three years or more, you will also be considered. In this case you may be interviewed and asked to demonstrate that you have engaged with the broad field of education at graduate level or equivalent.
What You'll Learn
This module offers opportunities to critically reflect on aspects of health and well-being in educational contexts including:
- Definition and exploration of Health, Well-being and Inclusion in education.
- Understanding the role of family and community needs.
- Impact of Health and Well-being on the educational process.
- Interprofessional working in local and global contexts – including collaboration among educators, healthcare professionals and other community stakeholders.
- Comparative analysis of international perspectives on Health and Well-being for learners and educators.
There will be an additional opportunity for students to present their work to an audience of students and delegates at the annual Education Conference, held at our Waterside Campus.
This module is taught for 2 hours per week and runs for 10 weeks, with the option to attend campus for face-to-face learning or join online, giving students more flexibility.
How often do I have to attend university?
You will need to attend learning, either face-to-face or online, for one 2 hour session per week.
How is teaching delivered?
The module is taught by the MA Education Team, who use a range of strategies to engage participants, including online tools, group discussions, scenario based learning and role play. Learning is reflected upon in relation to the experiences of the participants, meaning that the content of the module is practice driven.
How will I be assessed?

Master’s qualifications can give you the opportunity for higher level responsibility and senior posts within education, children’s services and further education. This Master’s level module addresses the needs of local authorities in the East Midlands as well as the government agenda for continuing professional development and the development of teaching as a research based profession. Should you wish to continue Level 7 study, the MA in Education is a versatile degree for students in search of career paths beyond teaching. Although this Master’s course equips you with skills and knowledge specifically within the field of education, it is not limiting but rather accommodates to other niche roles. Some examples of the kind of work students can do following graduation include: School Counsellor, Writer School leader , NGO or Charity Leader, Learning mentor, Training or Development specialist Instructional designer.
