Biomedical Science BSc Welcome Pack

Welcome to Biomedical Science BSc 2025.

This is the beginning of an exciting new journey for all of you, and we look forward to supporting you, and watching you develop both as scientists, and people.  We will introduce you to exciting developments in biomedical science, and help you gain an understanding of what this discipline entails.  We will introduce the basic elements of biomedical science, including microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, genetics and biomedical laboratory practice.

As you progress through the course, we will introduce you to more applied areas of biomedical science, including cellular pathology, haematology and medical microbiology.  During your time with us, you will learn to develop laboratory skills, clinical knowledge and its application, and undertake a final year research project.

Our teaching is research led and based on the principles of Active Blended Learning (ABL) to enhance the learning experience, by enabling digital technologies and interactive learning.  The key elements of this are active engagement and participation of students. Our aim is to help students maximise their potential and develop their skills so they can go on to lead successful careers.

Above all, we hope your time at University is as enjoyable and productive as possible.
