At The University of Northampton, we strive for the highest quality and excellence in everything we do.

Many of our academics and courses are internationally renowned for their excellence, with students coming to us from all over the world to study in our Schools of Health and Education to Science and Technology courses such as Leather Technology and Lift Engineering.

Ofsted, the Office for Standards in Education (the government body which inspects schools and other educational institutions) and the Nursing and Midwifery Boards have also given courses from the University's School of Health and School of Education high value ratings.

One which came in for the highest praise was the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) courses — BA Primary Education Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and BA Early Years Education (QTS).

These achievements are supported by the extensive experience of staff within both schools, who demonstrate a forward-thinking approach to the development of each course while providing an excellent standard of teaching and support to students.

In addition, our Centre for Special Needs Education and Research (CeSNER) is acknowledged throughout the UK as a centre of excellence.

In 2006 the Centre saw the beginning of the second phase of the School of Education's link with EM Direct to provide Higher Level Teaching Assistant status assessment throughout the East Midlands. CeSNER has been providing healthcare education in Northamptonshire for over 30 years while also meeting the needs of public and voluntary sector agencies both nationally and regionally.

Our academic staff are extremely respected in their fields and we have three National Teaching Fellows amongst our staff members. We also have the only practising librarian in the UK to be awarded a National Teaching Fellowship.

Our Quality and Curriculum Services team additionally supports the academic schools in the delivery of quality processes, disseminating best practice to ensure we meet and often exceed external and internal standards for quality management.
