Prof. Picton joined the University of Northampton as a Reader in 1995 and was awarded the title of Professor of Intelligent Computer Systems in 1997. Prior to this he was a lecturer in Electronics at the Open University. He holds a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Swansea University and a PhD in Digital Electronics from Bath University . Throughout his career Prof. Picton has taught and carried out research in many aspects of engineering, specifically the application of artificial intelligence techniques to engineering problems. He has published many papers and articles in this subject in scientific journals and conferences and written three books.
