Developing academic skills
The Centre for Academic Practice (CfAP) is a unique resource for all students, where you can receive free expert guidance and tuition on any academic skill including essay writing, dissertations, critical analysis, presentation skills, etc or Maths and statistics.
What do we offer?
We recognise that every individual has a different approach to learning and therefore offer a diverse range of teaching methods and resources; from study packs, to online and class-based workshops, to one-to-one tutorials (these can be face-to-face, via telephone or online).

New to Higher Education?
If you are new to HE, why not consider our two-day Flying Start programme which will help you to prepare for study at the University of Northampton. Supported by experienced lecturers and fellow students, you will be introduced to the HE learning framework and have the opportunity to work with others in the same situation as you, and to raise any issues or concerns which you may have.
If you feel you would need a longer programme, there is the Study Skills for Academic Success. This is a ten week module with two intakes per year: October and April. This module is designed to help you gain the appropriate academic skills for studying in Higher Education.
