Accommodation Guarantee

We guarantee a room in our Halls of Residence for all new full-time, first year students starting with us in September 2025* who apply and accept their room offer by the date that applies to status. See the details for home and international applicants below.

Undergraduate student guarantee – September 2025 – on or close to Waterside

If you are an undergraduate student and hold a conditional or unconditional Firm offer at the University of Northampton, we will contact you by email to invite you to apply for a place in Halls (this will usually be from mid-February before you are due to start your studies). You will need to register for the accommodation portal and then make your application. International applicants need to have paid their tuition fee deposit to be eligible for this scheme.

At Northampton we have excellent student accommodation to suit all needs and price requirements, including at our Waterside campus or 5 mins walk away in Northampton Town Centre at St Johns Halls of Residence. We know that first year students moving away from home for the first time appreciate the certainty or knowing that they will be on or close to campus in university owned and managed accommodation as they settle in, backed by support from our Residential Life support team, campus security and Students’ Union. This is not the case at many other Universities who may set early deadlines or place new students in accommodation far from campus or via third party providers who may not have the same level of pastoral student support.

Firm choice applicants need to apply and accept their room offer by 30 June 2025* to be part of this guarantee – this is after the UCAS decision date for most applicants of 4 June 2025 – we aim to be fair and transparent – you have plenty of time to decide. We also have excellent value ensuite rooms at our Scholars Green Student Village and first year students will be welcome to apply for places there instead of Waterside/St John’s. Scholars Green has a free shuttle bus service and car parking permits available.

International students guarantee – January 2025 intake

To be eligible for this guarantee, you need to hold a conditional or unconditional offer for January 2025 and pay your tuition deposit as stated on your offer letter. We need to have received your deposit by 16 December 2024 for you to be eligible for the guarantee.

After we have received your tuition fee deposit, we will contact you by email to invite you to apply for a place in Halls. You will need to register for the accommodation portal and then make your application.

International T&Cs

• Only applicants offered a place on a full time, on-campus undergraduate or undergraduate top-up course for January 2025 entry are eligible for the guarantee.
• Only students beginning their first year at the University of Northampton are eligible. Returning students are not eligible.
• Only applicants applying for University-owned accommodation are eligible for the guarantee.
• To meet the guarantee criteria, applicants must have accepted their course offer, paid their deposit in full by 16 December 2024 and made an application for accommodation.
• The University must have received the fee deposit by 16 December 2024 for the guarantee to stand.

No deposit required

We recognise the significant challenges families are facing due to the rising cost of living, and we won’t be asking students joining us in September 2025* to pay an upfront accommodation deposit when reserving a place in our Halls of Residence.

Please note: Applicants are not guaranteed their first-choice room, room type or specific location. Rooms are allocated on a first come, first served basis, so please reply as soon as you receive your invitation to apply for Halls/Accommodation and you are ready to make your decision.
