Social Work and Social Care Degrees and Masters

Social Workers and social care professionals deal with some of the most vulnerable people in society. This hugely rewording career offers a variety of roles in the sector, giving you an opportunity to explore different career paths. Our Social Work programme is approved by the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC), and upon a completion of your course, you can apply for a registration with the HCPC.

Our programmes can pave the way for you to become a registered Social Worker or a Health & Social Care professional by studying one of our Social Work, Social Care & Community Practice, Applied Social Care or Health & Social Care programmes at a degree level. Designed to develop your knowledge in areas of social work, applied social care and health, you will be taught by academics from a range of backgrounds and work-based experiences.

Our programmes are designed to give you an advanced knowledge of the subject area as well as practical skills needed for the profession in your chosen filed. Throughout your studies you will be supported by a personal academic tutor and a placement tutor.

Undergraduate Social Work and Social Care Programmes

Social Workers deal with some of the most vulnerable people in society at times of heightened stress. By the end of the course you will have been assessed against the Standards of Proficiency for Social Work and the Professional Capabilities Framework and will be able to apply to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for registration.

Our Social Care and Community Practice degree is offered as a three year course designed using real-world material that equips you for employment either within Social Care or working with specific communities.

This distinctive 2 year honours degree is aimed at those who are currently working in Social Care and Health and would like to progress on to more senior positions. The programme gives an opportunity to examine global issues and how they impact upon individuals, communities and the social care and health sector.

Our Health and Social Care FdSc course is aimed at those who are interested in caring for people, and is designed for those with a caring, practical nature, who wish to understand the theoretical basis behind care.

Our Health and Social Care Top-up course focuses on the context within which health and social problems arise and includes an in-depth examination of social care policy and contemporary health issues.

Studying Health Studies (Joint Honours) at the University of Northampton will provide you with the opportunity to explore the full range of this dynamic discipline. You can combine your study with complementary subjects such as Applied Social Care, Law, Criminology and Psychology.

Our Social Care Joint Honours course focuses on the context within which social problems arise and includes in-depth examination of social issues and the ways in which these issues are addressed. You can combine your study with complementary subjects such as Health Studies, Education, Law, Sociology and Psychology.

The course aims to equip you with the knowledge, skills and values appropriate for working in a variety of Health and Social care settings.

This course is relevant to those who wish to enter a wide variety of careers as well as those who seek to go on to qualify as teachers.

Postgraduate Social Work and Social Care Programmes

The course  prepares you for professional social work practice and gives you an opportunity to gain the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration after graduation.
