Working lunch could pay off for students banking on a career in the financial sector

Date 27.03.2019

Students seeking a successful career in finance were given valuable insights into the trade from an experienced wealth management consultant.

Billy Bell from Old Mutual Wealth, who has more than three decades’ experience, gave up some of his valuable time to take University of Northampton Banking and Financial Planning undergraduates out for a working lunch.

A fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute, Billy entertained the students with stories from his extensive career dealing with independent financial advisors (IFAs) and provided a valuable insight into the rewarding world of financial advice and the high level of professionalism IFAs now enjoy.

Senior Lecturer in Financial Services, Robin Bone, said: “The students were particularly grateful for Billy’s guidance on graduate career paths and employability boosting qualifications and skills.

“In turn, the students thoroughly impressed Billy with their own knowledge and passion for the profession and reflected the dedication of the University’s lecturing team.

“We would like to express our thanks to Billy and Old Mutual Wealth for their generous support and look forward to welcoming them back to the University of Northampton.”
