Website enhancements for better visitor experience

Date 4.04.2024

Finding information about University of Northampton (UON) courses, news, research, and support on offer has taken the next step with a new website search.

The website’s new search software uses artificial Intelligence (AI) powered by Raffle AI. This search and insights engine uses technology which mimics human behaviour to understand the meaning behind words used in search requests, allowing for greater accuracy and an improved website user experience.

This new feature follows another recent enhancement to the University’s website. Recite Me – introduced in January this year – allows website users to create a bespoke, user-friendly browsing visit to suit their needs.

The options cover 65 text-to-speech and styling options to create a bespoke viewing experience, including choosing the right colour, a digital ruler to help people stay focused on what they are reading, and up to 100 different language options.

Nadine Shambrook, the University’s digital development Team Leader, is one of the hands behind these improvements. She says: “The University of Northampton’s website is our ‘one-stop shop’ of information and resources. People place the accuracy of search results near the top of their list of ‘website wants’.

“One aspect of the University’s new strategy is that we will commit to building and maintaining an inclusive and supportive learning and working environment. Our refreshed website means visitors can access what they need, as precisely and swiftly as possible.”
