UON research offers free personal training sessions

Date 8.12.2022

Researchers at the University of Northampton are offering participants in a new study free personal training sessions in the New Year.

The team of Sport, Health & Exercise researchers are exploring factors affecting muscle recovery in women aged 18 to 40 who do not participate in resistance training such as lifting weights.

Those volunteers who take part in the study will be able to take advantage of two free private personal training sessions – usually £35 – with PT Andy Graham of Inner Strength Personal Training in his private studio in Abington, Northamptonshire.

Saul Cuttell, Programme Leader for the Sport and Exercise Science Bsc at the University said: “Exercise is the pathway to improved physical and mental health, but it is completely understandable that some may not know how to start. Through this research we wanted to not only invite people to take part in a valuable study into the factors affecting muscle recovery – but also offer anyone who participates the opportunity to learn how to exercise effectively.

“Andy’s gym environment is specifically built for one-to-one consultations and so are perfect for anyone who has never stepped in a gym before. If your New Year resolution is to build your strength and fitness in 2023, participating in the study is a perfect place to begin.”

Those interested in the study should contact Neill Friedman via email – Neill.Friedman@northampton.ac.uk – for more details.
