On Tuesday 18 June during a visit by Professor Andy Proctor from the University of Arkansas, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the University of Northampton and the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, USA.

The link between the two institutions originated from a joint research interest and collaboration between Professor Carol Phillips, Deputy Dean in the School of Health and Dr Steve Ricke at the University of Arkansas.

Professor Phillips visited Arkansas in May this year, and following the visit opportunities for partnerships between a number of schools within the University of Northampton including Science and Technology, Education and the School of the Arts are being explored.

Professor Phillips commented: “This is an example of how a joint research interest can lead to cross-institutional collaborations in a wide range of activities.”

The University of Northampton has signed Memorandum of Understanding’s with numerous institutions around the world, including those in Azerbaijan, China, Kazakhstan and Thailand.
