The School of Education at the University of Northampton hosted a day of Early Years research on Wednesday 17th June.

The day was a key event in the Early Years Research Festival that has been taking place throughout the summer term in the School of Education, based on papers from a special issue of Early Child Development and Care journal, guest edited by Dr Jane Murray. The Early Years Research Festival Day was sponsored by academic publisher, Taylor and Francis and the main focus of the day was on Early Childhood Pedagogy – how we teach our youngest children.

Keynote speakers included Dr Jane Murray, University of Northampton, Dr Peter Elfer, University of Roehampton, Dr Jools Page, University of Sheffield and Dr Leena Helevaara Robertson, University of Middlesex.

Dr Jane Murray commented: “The Early Years Festival Day was a wonderful opportunity to bring together academic and professional colleagues in the field of early years to focus on research about ways to give our youngest children the best start in life. Our delegates said they found the day inspiring and exhilarating.”
