University music makers set for festival appearance

Date 24.08.2021

Music acts from the University of Northampton will be taking over a stage at this weekend’s Kaya Festival.

Students on the Popular Music course will be playing the Northampton community festival’s acoustic stage on Friday 27 August.

Artin Daniel will kick off proceedings at 4.30pm, and will be followed by Natalie Okri, The Comms, Ruby Mae Crockett, Hotels and headliners, Back 2 Basics.

It will be the first of two 2021 summer festival appearances by students on the course. They’ll also be performing live at the University’s town-centre Element venue, during Northampton Music Festival, on Sunday 5 September.

Programme Leader, Mark Thursby, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting these fantastic community festivals taking place across our county. Our music students greatly benefit from these opportunities for hands-on experience in live sound, stage managing and of course, performing to eager audiences of thousands. We look forward to seeing you there.”

NLive Radio will also be broadcasting live from the three-day festival, in Overstone Park, across the weekend – listen via the website, or if you are in Northampton, on 106.9FM.
