This week’s round-up of University news coverage.

Times Higher Education interviewed our Vice Chancellor Nick Petford as he outlined the various benefits that the University’s new £350 million Waterside campus, based in the heart of Northampton, will bring to the town.

The Chron and Echo also spoke to Nick Petford on the full effect the new campus will have on Northampton once the second and third year students return.

ITV Anglia paid visit to the new campus to share the news that University of Northampton are funding six police officers to patrol their campus and nearby areas. Becky Bradshaw, Head of Safety, Security & Environment for the University said it is to ensure the welfare of students and creating a safe environment for them and local residents without putting an extra burden on the taxpayer (no link – TV report)

The Next Generation Chamber has appointed its first president and vice-president in Milton Keynes. It is an initiative launched by the Milton Keynes Chamber of Commerce and its sister Chamber in Northamptonshire to help businesses nurture young members of staff by offering them regular personal development sessions and networking events, and is supported by the University of Northampton.
