University helps decide the finalists for local business awards

Date 12.10.2018

Academics and staff from the University of Northampton joined the expert panel of judges for this year’s Northamptonshire Business Awards (NBAs).

Mairi Watson, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, Simon Longhurst, the University’s Apprenticeships Manager and Susan Helman, Major and Corporate Gifts Manager judged the majority of entries for this year’s NBAs.

With over 200 companies registered from across the county, the NBAs recognises and celebrates the best businesses, teams and entrepreneurs in Northamptonshire.

Mairi said: “We were all immensely impressed by the calibre of this year’s entries to the Northamptonshire Business Awards. Many of our students go on to secure work placements and graduate jobs at companies within Northamptonshire, so it is a fantastic opportunity for the University to build stronger links with local business.

“It is also vitally important to the county that we as a University support local business and acknowledge the astounding work they do, day in and day out, to boost the local economy.”

Ben Thomas, Director of the awards organisers; All Things Business, said: “We have really enjoyed working with the university this year. Mairi, Simon and Susan have been key in the independent judging process. The collective experience and knowledge that they provide has enabled us to identity some of the best businesses in the county and the strongest batch of finalists that we’ve seen yet.”

The ceremony is set to be held at The County Ground, Northampton on 15 November. For more information you can visit the award’s website.
