Uni’s black metallers make it on to Radio 1 Rock Show

Date 14.02.2018

A black metal band comprising staff, students and graduates from the University of Northampton has received airplay on the UK’s best-known radio rock show.

Daniel P Carter played Denigrata’s Rex Tremedae on his BBC Radio 1 Rock Show on Sunday evening, just days after the influential DJ came to campus to speak to music students at the University.

Fronted by Senior Lecturer in Popular Music, Dr Jasmine Shadrack, the five piece also includes Lecturer Francesca Stevens, course graduates Jordan Cameron and Sean Rawley and third year Nathan Craggs.

Jasmine said: “I want to give a massive thanks to Daniel P Carter and the Radio 1 Rock Show team. We are honoured to have been played, and for Dan to have concluded his show with us.”

You can listen to Denigrata’s appearance on the iPlayer – the song starts at 2hrs 52mins into the show.

Denigrata are on Bandcamp, Facebook and Twitter.
