The University of Northampton submits plans to redevelop Park Campus

Date 27.07.2016

An outline planning application to redevelop the University of Northampton’s Park Campus on Boughton Green Road, Kingsthorpe has been submitted to Northampton Borough Council.  The application forms part of the University’s wider plan to develop an exciting new £330m Waterside Campus on the Avon Nunn Mills site in Northampton town centre.

The submission seeks to allow the redevelopment of the site for housing from 2018 when the University’s relocation to the Waterside Campus has taken place.

Pre-application consultation events held in November 2013 saw strong public support for the redevelopment.  Almost 70% of respondents (69%) supported the redevelopment of Park Campus as part of the University’s plans to relocate to a new campus at Waterside.  This was followed by a second round of consultation events held in March 2014 to seek further input before the plans were finalised.

Professor Nick Petford, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Northampton said: “This is another milestone step in our plans to relocate to Waterside.  It is a hugely exciting development for both the University and for Northampton.”

This is an outline planning application, with details submitted that cover the uses proposed across the site, the amount of development and access points, together with an indication of the heights, widths and lengths of proposed buildings.

The application is available for anyone to view through the planning pages on Northampton Borough Council’s website.
