Students’ Children in Need plans are no slumber party

Date 12.11.2019

It’s very nearly that time of year again. No, not that time when presents are strewn around the tree for excited children to scream about, but time for University nursing students to don fun outfits and pound Waterside to drum up cash for the nation’s biggest fundraiser.

Children in Need night 2019 falls on Friday 15 November and students are following a more ‘nocturnal’ style of costuming this year. They’ll be wearing pyjamas and ‘onesies’ – but still safely insulated against the cold – and will be out and about asking the people of Waterside and Northampton town to give to a good cause.

In keeping with the hard-working ethos of nursing students – from all four of the main subject areas – some will mix their daily fundraising duties with lectures and practical skills workshops.

Last year, the theme of the charity drive was superheroes and super villains (see photo above). The valiant team collected a total of £504 with Child Nursing student Natalie Eccles winning the best costume prize as Mrs Incredible (voted for by her peers and University of Northampton’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Nick Petford).
