As part of a University visit to India, Professor Nick Petford met with executives from the Jaypee Group at the Buddh International Motor Racing Circuit to further develop links between motor sport and education.

The aim of the visit was to discuss high performance engineering and the impact a Grand Prix circuit can have on economy, employment and education.

The discussion focused on the newly opened Silverstone UTC, based at the Circuit itself, which is supported by the University of Northampton and offers young people the opportunity to specialise in High Performance Engineering or Business and Technical Events Management.

The Buddh International Circuit is owned by the Jaypee Group and is the venue of the annual Formula 1 Indian Grand Prix.

The team from Northampton also attended the launch of the British Business Centre in New Delhi, as well as meeting with partner institutions focusing on Social Enterprise and Fashion.
