Date 8.05.2019

Professor Richard Canning, Subject Leader for English and Creative Writing, at the University of Northampton, has been published in a new book, Crashing Cathedrals: Edmund White by the Book.

The book explores American novelist Edmund White’s Caracole published in the US, in a volume entitled Crashing Cathedrals: Edmund White by the Book, which has been edited by Tom Cardamone. In the book, Richard joins established and new voices from the literary world, journalists, friends, former students, White’s husband, and a recent editor/publisher to provide appraisals of White’s work.

Speaking about the publication, Professor Richard Canning said: “The collection forms a unique tribute-cum-biography of the most significant contemporary gay writer in the world. I’m thrilled to be in this first Festschrift dedicated to him, alongside so many familiar names in American gay literature, and especially pleased to be asked to write on the novel Caracole, a book I find today as mysterious, bewitching and essential as when I first read it as a teenager.”

The book is available to purchase from ITNA Press.
