Logistics industry challenges tackled in sector discussion

The impact of Covid and Brexit on logistics and distribution formed a recent round-table event, with sector experts gathering to discuss the multiple challenges for the industry and possible solutions.

The discussions involved industry experts from the University and business leaders and other topics covered included changes to the industry, the delivery of peak (the increase in demand in the run up to Christmas) and sector recruitment.

Liam Fassam, Associate Professor Supply Chain Management at the University of Northampton, spoke about the ‘perfect storm’ with challenges around supply due to shipping not heading over to Europe and no air network to bring in goods.

This was the first such discussion, led by Northampton-based firm ACS Recruitment and involved representative from company representatives in the county, including TravisPerkins and Pets at Home.

The round-table will be followed by similar events, with the next planned for later this year.
