People from across the county came together to share their hopes and ambitions for Northamptonshire – with the University of Northampton committing to listen, respond and work with partners to help make them happen. An open letter following the event from the University’s Interim Vice Chancellor, Becky Bradshaw, was printed in the Northamptonshire Telegraph.
The University has risen another 12 places and has three subjects in the top ten, after the Guardian published its influential annual league table of UK universities, as reported by the Northampton Chronicle & Echo.
The University officially announced its new Health and Rehabilitation Centre, bringing under one umbrella existing services for Podiatry, Sports Rehabilitation and Injury and Sport and Health Testing. A news service – Physiotherapy – joins them and will support members of the public from the Podiatry Clinic in Northampton. Two migrant protests were held earlier this month, one led by campaigner Danny ‘Tommo’ Thomas, an associate of far right activist and commentator Tommy Robinson. Professor Paul Jackson, an expert on far right radicalisation spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live about Thomas. Listen here (starts at 1hr and 40mins).

Research led by Senior Lecturer in Education David Meechan, following an online survey of 88 professionals working with children aged 0-8, has found there is a significant gap between how play is understood and the conditions in which this knowledge are put into practice effectively. The Nepalese Society at the University and the town’s Nepalese community jointly held a candlelight vigil today in front of All Saints’ Church, in memory of those who lost their lives and were affected by the devastating floods in Nepal. The event was reported by the Chronicle & Echo.
