Grad band Surge set to release new single this Friday

Date 17.05.2018

Indie rock four-piece Surge, whose line-up includes two University of Northampton graduates, will release their fifth single this Friday (18 May).

Guitarist Alan Jones and bassist Will Smith completed the Popular Music degree course last summer before playing slots at both Reading and Isle of Wight festivals with the band.

Friday will see Surge release single Time and Again on digital platforms, while the music video is available to watch now – see below.

Alan said: “I feel the new song has developed and pushed our garage rock sound to something more.

“We have been trying for a little while to develop our sound into something more mature and in-balance with our own musical tastes, to make music more appealing to the ear rather than people coming just to rock out to a show, but also keeping the fun element involved.

“I believe the evolution of the synths that we have recently brought into the band and a few other changes within the band line up that could take place could see the start of a whole new era for Surge.”

Alan also touched on future plans for the band. He said: “We have just come out the studio and have another song being prepped for release.

“We’ll then be back in the studio at the end of June, with the aim of releasing three singles over the summer.

“We’re also taking a break from gigging to perfect our sound and get the new songs ready for live shows in the autumn.

“Personally, I think this single and some of the new stuff we are making is the best stuff we have done, to date.”

Surge are on Facebook, Twitter and Soundcloud.
