Gordon Strachan to host football talent conference at the University of Northampton

Date 6.07.2021

Former Manchester United and Scotland legend, Gordon Strachan, is headlining a football talent conference at the University of Northampton.

Strachan, who made over 600 league appearances and played for and managed his country, heads the bill at the Football Talent Identification and Development Conference.

The event, which will be held on Sunday 25 July at Waterside Campus, will be a collision space for scouts, player talent identification enthusiasts and football coaches to discuss all things talent-related to football. The day will also include a showcase of players released from their professional clubs, who are looking to get back into the pro game, via a series of trials.

Hosted by the University, the event has been organised by Pitch, the only UK football talent identification system that has unique access for scouts, managers and coaches from semi-professional to professional football clubs.

Pitch was founded by University Senior Lecturer in Sport & Exercise Science, Saul Cuttell.

He said: “The main hope from the day is we can help young players get more eyes on their talent but also create a knowledge exchange environment.

“We have had some amazing support from the University, Northamptonshire FA and Northampton Town FC in collaboration of this event and I am extremely delighted to say we have a very high calibre of guest speakers, including Gordon.”

Other speakers include football agent and former Manchester United scout, Mark Anderson; sports performance consultant, Mike Armiger; Northampton Town education lead, Pete Stephenson and coach, Shane Goddard; Luton Town sport psychologist, Kayleigh Dougan and Graham Starmer from FCV international Academy.

Tickets for the event cost £39.99. Visit the event website for more details.
