Ellie brings a piece of Italy to this year’s Graduate Fashion Week

Date 1.06.2016

A trip around Italy inspired 21-year-old Ellie Pask with her final year collection, which has been chosen to represent the University of Northampton on the catwalk at this year’s Graduate Fashion Week.

Ellie from Peterborough, who is studying for a BA (Hons) in Fashion, visited the likes of Milan, Florence, Rome and Sorrento and the garments she has created represent and are named after each of the cities.

She said: “I used a lot of block colour with piping and in one of my pieces you can see a burst of orange which was inspired by the colour of the vespas you see whizzing everywhere. When creating my pieces, I took the opportunity to get as much experience using different materials and fabrics as I could to make myself ready for the industry when I graduate.

“I have used a mix of leather, wool, waterproof fabrics and neoprene throughout my pieces. I enjoyed learning about leather and even did a week-long course so I could lean the process. I have found it to be a difficult material to work with, but it’s so rewarding as it creates an impressive look.”

Graduate Fashion Week takes place from Sunday 5 to Wednesday 8 June at the Truman Brewery in Shoreditch and has been firmly established as the world’s leading event for fashion graduates. The University of Northampton’s catwalk show takes place on Monday 6 June and is in partnership with world-leading manufacturer of holistic natural cosmetics, Weleda.
