Could it be a perfect 10 for UON Lecturer in this year’s Strictly Northampton?

Date 20.09.2021

Local personalities from across the county will be putting their best foot forward on 12 November, when dance extravaganza Strictly Northampton celebrates a decade of dancing.

University of Northampton Senior Lecturer, Hayley Henderson, who teaches undergraduate Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour, is one of this year’s selected contestants.

Celebrating its 10th year, Hayley and the contestants have just eight weeks to learn Ballroom and Latin American dance routines, before dancing in front of a packed auditorium at the Royal and Derngate. The dancers will perform group and individual routines, before a judging panel and a live audience, with the winner on the night taking home the coveted Strictly Northampton glitterball trophy.

Speaking about her motivation for stepping into her dancing shoes, Hayley said: “I am very excited to be joining Strictly Northampton 2021 and to have the opportunity to learn some dance skills in 8 weeks! I hope to raise lots of funds to support Cynthia Spencer Hospice charity and the families who need their support.

“My passion is teaching and supporting people’s wellbeing. I have spent the last 15 years teaching business disciplines, with a focus on the theory behind motivating, and supporting people to achieve their best. I’m also a yoga instructor, teaching yoga and wellbeing classes around Northampton. Let’s hope I can practice what I teach when it comes to developing my dancing skills.”

You can also get involved by sponsoring Hayley and donating to support local hospice, Cynthia Spencer, visit Hayley’s JustGiving page. JustGiving sends your donation straight to Teenage Cancer Trust and automatically reclaims Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer, making your donation worth even more.

Hayley joins a host of UON staff to have taken part in the danceathon, which includes former Students’ Union president Victor Agboola, Senior Lecturer, Karen Woolley, Ecomms Officer, Amy Stears, and many more.
