Conference puts Brexit into context

Date 5.07.2017

Experts from the University and beyond gathered at Avenue Campus on Monday for a one-day conference to discuss the many issues posed by Brexit.

Brexit in Context: History, Politics and Society saw presentations addressing a wide range of topics, including Brexit and the realignment of British political parties; the role of the media; organised crime and even Brexit in fiction.

The opening keynote talk was given by Professor Glen O’Hara, pictured, of Oxford Brookes University, with other guests including comedian and Horrible Histories writer, Dave Cohen.

Northampton academics presenting included Simon Sneddon, who talked about Brexit and cross-border smuggling; James Ressell who revealed what King Henry VIII had to do with Brexit; and Richard Kelly, who explored Brexit in fact and fiction.
