Acting stars of tomorrow bring the stage to your living room

Date 4.05.2021

Theatre-goers can enjoy nine original shows from the comfort of their own homes, thanks to the future stars of the stage from the University of Northampton.

The Flash Fringe Theatre Festival is an annual event which showcases the talents of final year students on the Acting for Contemporary & Devised Performance course.

Due to the pandemic, this year’s festival will be held online, rather than in various venues across the town.

The three-day festival, which runs from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 May, will see nine plays broadcast via YouTube. While talking is frowned upon in theatres, ticket holders for the festival will be encouraged to comment on the shows, as they take place, via the YouTube comments section.

Each play is an original piece created, directed and performed by the students, and go towards their final assessments.

The cost of admission is free, with ticket holders encouraged to make a donation to the Royal & Derngate theatre.

Find out more and book tickets for the online events via the fringe website.

Final year students on the Events Management course plan, organise and oversee the whole of the festival as part of their dissertation.
