Accreditation gives career boost to science graduates from the University of Northampton

Date 21.11.2019

A leading professional body’s accreditation of two University of Northampton science degrees has given a massive boost to the employment credentials of future graduates.

The Human Bioscience and Biomedical Science courses have received accreditation by the Royal Society of Biology (RSB).

The accreditation recognises that graduates from both courses are equipped with well-rounded knowledge and skill sets, making them highly employable both within and beyond their chosen field.

Dr Noel Harris, Programme Leader for Human Bioscience, said: “We are delighted to have gained the accreditation for our degrees from the RSB. This is a recognition of the quality of our bioscience degrees and will give our students greater employability prospects for the future.”

The Royal Society of Biology (RSB) is a single unified voice for biology: advising Government and influencing policy; advancing education and professional development; supporting our members, and engaging and encouraging public interest in the life sciences.

Degree accreditation follows an independent and rigorous assessment of degree programmes which contain a solid academic foundation in biological knowledge and key skills, and prepare graduates to address the needs of employers. To achieve accreditation, universities need to provide evidence that meets the six overarching learning outcomes, set by the RSB.
