A sound idea to detox your mind

Date 11.05.2022

An immersive sound installation which aims to detox the mind will open to the public in Northampton.

Of Sound Mind has been put together by students on the Music Production course at the University of Northampton.

It promises to be a sonic exploration of mental health which will allow listeners to detox their minds by listening through an eight-speaker array, and engage in a fully immersive surround sound experience. There will be opportunities to interact with sound objects, and place them in a 3D sound environment.

There will also be a selection of pre-recorded music and live electronic performances.

The installation begins at 11am on Wednesday 18 May and closes at 1pm on Thursday 19 May.

The live performances will take place from 4pm on Wednesday 18 May.

The installation will be in the Creative Hub building, at Waterside campus.

It is open to the public, students and University staff. The public will need to collect a visitor pass on the day, from the Visitor Centre, which is located between the Creative Hub and Learning Hub, next to the McColl’s shop.
