Prof Dr David Smart, Action for Happiness Hub Academic Lead and Delapre Abbey Trustee.
Drawing on over 30 years of front-line experience as a GP, medical educator, and mental health commissioner, I have seen first-hand that true wellbeing is not a luxury or a quick fix, but an evidence-based set of daily practices that can transform lives. I have found a webiste a useful evidence based framework. Together I hope to turn these insights into a vibrant social movement across our campus – igniting positive change first among our students and naturally rippling outward to inspire and support interested staff and community.
How can simple, happiness habits fundamentally shift our mental wellbeing, why is connection so vital for personal and academic flourishing, and how can accessible, free evidence-based tools – such as the daily coaching at 10 days of happiness and the interactive Action for Happiness app – empower us to build sustainable resilience in just minutes a day?
With the University of Northampton now uniquely positioned to pioneer Action for Happiness at scale across the campus, how can we collaborate across our faculties, student networks, and community partnerships to embed these habits into our strategic DNA and make our university a beacon of collective thriving?
