Dr Ouarda Dsouli is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Programme Leader at the University of Northampton, where she has worked for 15 years. She leads the BSc Accounting and Finance programme (since 2022) and previously led the BSc Professional Accounting top-up (2019 to 2023). She acts as a compliance and appeals officer and is an internal validation and periodic review panel member. She has led more than 40 curriculum and programme development initiatives, including MBA and DBA programmes, and secured Professional accreditation for the BSc Accounting and Finance. She has delivered Northampton’s executive education and franchise programmes in the UAE, Hong Kong and China. Dr Dsouli holds a PhD from Henley Business School (2019) and a PGCAP in Academic Practice from the University of Northampton (2021). She is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (FCMI) and a Fellow of Advance HE (FHEA).

Dr Dsouli teaches a number of modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level, covering accounting, finance, corporate governance, sustainability and research methods, and supervises students from undergraduate projects through to the DBA. Her teaching is informed by her research and professional background, and she uses blended learning, experiential learning and authentic assessment to connect theory with practice.

Dr Dsouli has supervised over 200 postgraduate dissertations and MBA projects and more than 100 undergraduate dissertations and projects, and she currently supervises and examines DBA candidates. She has secured pedagogic grants from the Learning Enhancement & Innovation Fund (2022/23 and 2023/24) and a Seedcorn Project grant (2021/22).

Dr Dsouli has secured funding for three research projects, working with a team of researchers across the faculty:

  • Insights into the attainment of the GEM students: a case study of the BSc Accounting and Finance (2022/23), Learning Enhancement & Innovation Fund
  • The impact of Covid-19 on postgraduate students in the UK (2021/22), Seedcorn Project

She has presented at more than 20 international conferences. She is a member of the International Organising Committee for IEEE International. She reviews for renowned journals in her discipline.

Dr Dsouli’s research interests include corporate governance, board gender diversity, sustainability and ethics, development finance institutions (DFIs), public-private partnerships (PPPs), Innovation, and artificial intelligence in auditing and pedagogic research.

She supervises DBA and PhD students in these areas and has supervised three doctoral students to completion. She welcomes enquiries from prospective doctoral candidates and from colleagues interested in collaborating.
