Staff Profile

  • Matthew studied BSc (Hons) Sport Science at Kingston University. Upon graduation in 2017, he completed an MSc in Sport and Exercise Performance. He is currently in the writing up period of his PhD in Exercise and Nutritional Physiology at Kingston University.

    Matthew has previously taught on the BSc Sport Science and Exercise Nutrition and Health courses at Kingston University, as well as leading Physiology and Metabolism in BSc Biomedical Sciences at Roehampton University. More recently, he has been module leader and led teaching in in Level 4 Physiology of Exercise, Level 4 Introduction to Research, Level 5 Physiology of Training and Level 5 Nutritional Biochemistry at Regent College London for the BSc Sport Science and Sport and Exercise Nutrition degrees, as well as supervising dissertations within Health and Sport Science. Matthew is an Associate fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and a member of the Physiology Society.

  • Matthew’s main research interests are the impact of carbohydrate restriction on exercise metabolism and performance, in addition to the role of carbohydrate ingestion on physiology and performance of athletes adhering to a carbohydrate restricted diet. Matthew also researches the impact of Exogenous Ketone ingestion on exercise physiology and performance.
