Hauwa qualified from the University of Northampton with a first class honours in 2023. Following qualification, she commenced employment at Northampton General Hospital, where she completed her preceptorship programme within maternity services. She worked both rotationally across the maternity pathway and within the Maternity Continuity of Carer team, developing a broad clinical skillset.
Hauwa has a particular interest in woman-centred care, supporting women and families throughout the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods. She has experience caring for women with both low-risk pregnancies and more complex needs, and values collaborative multidisciplinary working to promote safe, individualised care. She is committed to promoting inclusivity within maternity services. Her experience within the Continuity of Carer team enabled her to support women from Global Ethnic Majority (GEM) and other underrepresented communities, contributing to efforts to address inequalities in maternal and neonatal outcomes.
Hauwa also holds a degree in Computer Science and Management, informing her interest in digital health. She was seconded to the Digital and Data team at the University Hospitals of Northamptonshire Group, where she supported the implementation of electronic patient record systems and gained experience in digital transformation within maternity services. Her academic and professional interests lie at the intersection of digital health, inclusive practice and midwifery education. She is committed to evidence-based practice, continuous professional development, and improving outcomes for women and their families.
