Staff Profile

  • Carey is a BPS Chartered Psychologist who is currently researching the physiological benefits of meditation and mindfulness-based interventions.   Carey completed her first degree with the Open University and her master’s with Glyndwr University.  Carey has been at the University of Northampton since February 2018.

  • Carey teaches on the undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Positive Psychology, Neuroscience, Evolutionary Psychology.

  • Areas of research have been the effects of rewards via gamification in the classroom on affect and motivation in adolescents. Current research is examining the potential heart rate variability, stress and subjective wellbeing changes in undergraduates after experiencing a group meditation, ‘sound-bath’ or relaxing music condition.
