Financial benefits of studying at your local university
There are many financial benefits to staying at home while you are at university. By staying at home you will be saving money on rent and other amenities. Depending on how many days a week you are on campus and online options for students, the amount of days you will be commuting could be minimal. The saving you make can be allocated towards tuition funds, books or any university related expenses that you need for the year.
Time management and flexibility
Working from home can give you the time to plan around your individual needs and preferences. Being in your own space can provide you the opportunity to study at a pace that’s comfortable for you. It can also give you fewer distractions because you are in your own environment. With the flexibility of commuting to university or studying online, you can prioritise your learning and have a balanced approach to studying. You can also still access all of the resources at your university without living on campus. Sometimes staying in your comfort zone can be condusive to being productive because you are not making as many changes to your routine.
Support network
Staying at home while you are studing can be important to give you access to your support network. You can have better ability to be with friends and family when you are at home. This access could put you at ease and provide you with support while you are studying. You can still join societies and go on trips with your university when you are living at home.
If you have pre-existing commitments before beginning university you will be able to continue with activities that you are passionate about. These comforts are very important and can make for a great environment while studying. Quite often the pressures of university life can be stressful. By living at home you can have a chance to have the parts of university life that you want whilst being able to come home. Staying at home can also enable you to have the best of both worlds in making new friends at university and seeing your home friends.
Moving away from home isn’t for everyone, by staying local and living at home you can still get the whole university experience.
